After 24 years working in practice locally, which coincided with the start of self assessment and now to the implementation of Making Tax Digital, I have seen first-hand how accountancy has changed.

Over the last few years, one complaint that I used to hear a lot is that accountancy firms are now ‘too corporate to care’ and that they are no longer interested in the ‘little guy.' Others had questioned why fees are increasing, even though the client is now taking a more hands on role, paying for and using their own software to prepare their accounts/ VAT returns rather than stuffing a bag full of bank statements and invoices and taking that to the accountant to sort out, which makes the accountant's life much easier!

That is why I decided to start Gareth Pollard Accountancy Services, so I can become more client focused again and not have time constraints put on me when I conduct a client meeting or have a chat on the phone. I treat every single one of my clients as I would expect to be treated. I do not want my clients to feel rushed, or to wonder how much a quick phone call will cost them.

​

I also think that looking after our environment is very important, so I keep paper and printer use to a minimum and am able to offer the option of a secure online package where clients can view all correspondence, accounts etc which they can sign electronically without the need for printing. These documents are also available to be viewed at any time once they have been published.

I am more than happy to see clients in the evening or at weekends, as I understand that it can be hard to make contact during normal office hours and again, I am more than happy to see you in the comfort of your own home.
